The Avenue of Art is a free self-guided walking tour open 24/7 of curated hand-painted sidewalks in downtown Sarasota. The artwork celebrates Sarasota County Centennial. Each painting has a QR code for spectators to click on to read about the history of Sarasota County, the artist that painted the artwork, Contributors and more. The tour starts at 500 S. Orange Avenue (intersection of S. Orange and Laurel Street) and continues for 4 blocks.

Valetta explores interior worlds and the female psyche as she exposes rooms and the relationships that unfold there. When Valetta toddled into her father’s studio in Brooklyn, she began making marks on paper. She hasn’t stopped since. As a mature artist, she works from the subconscious, often using dreams as her inspiration. For the most part Valetta’s images seem to be based on relationships, real and imagined. Rendered in hushed pastel tones, she discloses interior landscapes of the tension and disruption that often exist between men and women. In her work there is no resolve, no happy endings, just the figures within a moment suspended in their separateness. In her new works, gauze masks and charcoals on paper, she continues to probe the interior workings of the mind. “I consider the work I’ve done a stream of fluid dreams realized on paper and canvas, a subconscious journey of creation. The journey may lead through dark alleys that reveal pain or onto bright highways full of joy. But always, I find unexpected places that take me over strange and uncharted roads.” – Valetta This exhibition will be on view from June 3 – August 12, 2022. Circus fans of all ages, from near and far, can beat the heat at reasonable prices while experiencing the best of the circus arts. Some of the circus world’s most exciting acts have signed on for the annual show – a longtime partnership of the Circus Arts Academy and The Ringling – with performances presented over nine weeks this summer. The lineup for the Summer Circus Spectacular includes a wide range of acts, including duo lyra, adagio, hand balancing/contortion, rolla bolla, and more. In a world where blockbusters come and go, FST Improv entertains with an unforgettable, original, and fully improvised motion picture! The cast of We’re Doomed will perform an improvised horror movie based on a title provided by the audience! Art Talk – A Week in the Life of a Curator August 18, 4-6 pm Arts Advocates Gallery, The Crossings at Siesta Key, 3501 S.
