Payne Park Tennis Center has a dozen courts open to the public for singles and doubles matches or individual practice. Courts are offered in 90-minute sessions, while ball machines are available for rental and there is no charge to use the hitting wall. Special programs include co-ed doubles, in-house leagues, and professional instructors. Hours are 7:30 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. Friday and 7:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. weekends. Visit the website for reservation and pricing information.

What happens when you combine the beautiful setting of Bradenton with a time-honored activity that benefits mind and body? The result is Sunset Tai Chi, held at the stunning Robinson Preserve. Feel stress melt away as Dr. Brian Nell, a certified Tai Chi instructor, guides you through movements designed to improve flexibility, balance, and joint strength. Classes also explore Qigong and other disciplines. Sunset Tai Chi takes place at 6:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month through December, rain or shine. A day at pet-friendly Nathan Benderson Park is more fulfilling and budget-friendly than a visit to a gym or health club. Fresh air and sunshine surround you with every activity at this breathtaking 550-acre facility. More than three miles of lakeside trails accommodate walkers and runners, bikers, and rollerbladers while also serving as a prime spot for bird watching. The lake is the site of fishing and paddlesports, and there's a fully-equipped playground for the kids. Cut loose with a Zumba class or challenge yourself with Camp Gladiator boot camp. NBP is open 6 a.m. - 8 p.m. daily through mid-October when closing time of 6 p.m. begins. Admission is free except for certain special events.
Bradenton Marauders - LECOM Park, 1611 9th St. W., Bradenton, FL 34205
Sometimes, you just want to kick back and be a spectator. Indulge in the all-American pastime of beer, hot dogs, and baseball at a Bradenton Marauders game. As a Single-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Marauders play in LECOM Park, the Pirates' spring training home.
